How do we conduct a criminal record check?
Instead of a visit to the municipality, you can easily apply for a VOG via Pescheck. We forward the VOG application automated online to the Justis, the screening authority. They will then check whether the candidate has criminal offences or other matters to his or her name and whether these pose a risk for the purpose for which the VOG is requested.
If this is not the case, or if the facts are not relevant to the purpose of the VOG, the candidate will receive the certificate of conduct by mail.

Questions & answers
A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is a paper document indicating that your past behaviour is not an objection for a particular task or position.
If you have applied for a VOG, Dienst Justis will check the Justice Documentation System to see if you have committed a criminal offence. They will check whether you have come into contact with the Police or the Justice Department. They look to see if you have a criminal record.
To apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct, there are a number of requirements. There is a difference in the requirements when applying for a VOG online and when applying for a VOG at the municipality.
A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is requested in many cases these days. It may be asked by an employer if you want to work somewhere, but it is also required for visa applications or operating licences. However, for many, it is not known why applying for a VOG is required and when it is not. In some cases, it is legally required to apply for a VOG. Examples include teachers, taxi drivers and guest parents. In principle, the government determines when and why applying for a VOG is mandatory. When there is no legal obligation, the employer determines whether to require a VOG for the position in question.
The VOG is issued only in Dutch with a standard, short English-language explanation. However, it is possible to have your Dutch VOG translated by a sworn interpreter or translator should this be necessary. For this, you can contact a translation agency.
Examples include positions in childcare and taxi drivers, for example. In other situations, the employer may stipulate that a VOG is mandatory upon appointment to a position within the organisation. Although this is then not legally required, you should then submit a VOG before working for this employer.
