What is screening?

Screening is a reliable method to check whether your (future) employees are honest with their CV and have the right qualifications for their position. The checks to be performed are determined on the basis of the position of the employee to be screened. The checks take place after the consent of the employee or candidate.

What are pre-employment background checks?

With a pre-employment background check , we verify that your prospective employee is honest on their resume and qualified for their new job. We do this through job-appropriate checks, usually with automated background checks to provide accurate results within 2 business days.

What is an International Background Check?

With a global background check , also known as an international background screening, your organization can perform verifications and background checks such as identity verification, criminal records, qualifications and references all over the world.

What is an in-employment screening?

In-employment screening involves background checks on existing employees (current employees). This is a one-time or periodic check that ensures the integrity and quality of the organization, for example during employment. This check is used in the event of internal job changes, organizational changes or increasing legislation and regulations.

What are the costs of a screening?

It depends on the screening and the package. On our platform you will find all the different checks and their prices. You can also create a free account to view this or contact us. You only pay when you perform a check. We call this “Pay-as-you-Go”.

So no subscriptions or packages, but only pay for what you actually use. This prevents you from paying too much and your (potential) employees from being screened too often for their function.

Why is screening important?

Many organizations use screenings to verify the reliability and qualifications of their (future) personnel. They want to limit loss of image or financial risks. In addition, there are also job levels and sectors, such as healthcare and the financial sector, in which this form of control is required by law.

In general, screening helps organizations from the bottom up, from faster HR integration all the way to the strategic level and meeting compliance requirements for auditors.

How can I perform a screening?

When conducting a screening, it is important to properly inform the (potential) employees who are being screened. In the case of a background check prior to employment, you indicate this in the vacancy text, so that potential employees know that screening is part of the selection procedure.

When screening during employment, it is important to explain to your current employees why the screening is necessary. This prevents ambiguities and resistance.

What do you need to perform a background check on my candidates?

To get started, all you need to do is provide the candidates’ legal name and email address, and we’ll need their consent. We’ll take care of the rest! At that point, they’ll receive an automated link via email where they can enter all the necessary information required for the specific background check(s).

What can I have examined?

Under the GDPR, there must be a legitimate reason to perform screenings. It is therefore important that you as an employer do not screen more than is necessary for the employee's function or the sector in which your organization is active. That is why you map out the job requirements for each job group and the specific risks that apply.

You compile the necessary controls based on these function groups. More information about this can be found on the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority, which promotes and monitors the protection of personal data.

Where does PESCHECK get its data from?

PESCHECK data comes from a variety of sources, including state and federal registries. PESCHECK works with certified providers who compile databases of court rulings. These are thoroughly researched by our team who have experience finding what you need!

Can I request a report from a candidate who lives in another country?

Yes, you can run background checks on candidates who live in over 196 countries worldwide. We offer global background checks for candidates who have lived or worked abroad, as well as those who currently reside outside of your country.

How do you handle the privacy of my employees?

We attach great importance to privacy. That is why we process the data of your (potential) employees at the same security level as leading banks and government institutions. We ask them to share only data that is necessary for their function.

We store this data as short as possible until the purpose of the screening has been achieved. Our processes and data security are licensed under POB #1551 by the Ministry of Justice Netherlands (see doc. List of licensees) and our ISO certification via BSI ISO27001.
